MUMBAI: His first stint with A R Rahman was way back in 2006 hit film Rang De Basanti after he sang the passionate song Khoon Chala – but what the Delhi 6 track Massakali did for him two years later, remains unmatched. Now eagerly awaiting the release of his first solo album, Mohit Chauhan is ready to enter the non-film scenario – almost eight years after Silk Route disbanded.
The solo album titled Fitoor, which has a live and acoustic feel is due for release coming October under the Universal label. Explaining the meaning, Chauhan says, "Fitoor means when something overwhelms your mind to the point of little insanity. This album is a result of the 'Fitoor' that has been on my head since I was born," he adds. Chauhan will also be touring with his new band under his own name.
The new band consists of former Silk Route drummer Kenny, guitar player Saurav, who is also the member of Parikrama, Subhash Pradhan on acoustic guitar and backing vocals, Vishal on Keyboards and Manas Choudhary on Bass, Didgeridoo. "I play the Harmonica and Mandolin," he smiles.
